Botox: The Benefits That Everyone Ignores
It would be fair to say that Botox has experienced something of a rollercoaster reputation over the years. Initially, the feedback was superb – this was a procedure that knocked off the years. Then, following some horror stories in the press, a few people started to sway away from it. Now that the process is much more understood, and people know that it simply can’t be overdone, it’s something that’s very much on the tip of any beauty-conscious person’s tongue.
We’ve titled this article about the benefits of Botox, although really, as everyone knows, the main one is pretty obvious. It’s a procedure which eradicates wrinkles, or at least starts to disguise them, with the ultimate aim of making us look a lot younger. It’s become an absolutely huge business for this reason and it doesn’t matter whether you are looking for Botox treatments in San Jose or New York – the selection is absolutely huge.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg though. If one scrutinizes Botox in finer detail, it starts to become clear that this beauty treatment can benefit us in a number of other ways – many of which are never documented. Considering just how competitive this industry is, this is something we found quite surprising.
For example, while one is never going to turn to the procedure specifically for this use, Botox is actually quite effective when it comes to treating migraine pain. Unfortunately, scientists still don’t know exactly why this is the case, although there is a suspicion that the drugs nullify the nerves which transmit messages to the brain. In some cases, it’s been found that headaches can drop by around 50% following the injections – so the difference can be substantial.
Elsewhere, anyone who suffers from hyperhidrosis may sometimes use the treatment. For those not in the know, this is a condition which causes excessive sweating. Those that have tried Botox to resolve the problem have found that the symptoms are relieved for months at a time so again, it’s further evidence that Botox can work in a number of ways.
Perhaps more impressively, some sources believe that Botox can also relieve arthritis. Again, the studies behind this have not been intense, but those people who have attempted to use the procedure to treat this product have noted a remarkable improvement in the condition. Additionally, this was by no means short term relief, with some of the symptoms disappearing for up to a year.
Of course, while some people may use Botox for any of the above problems, let’s not kid ourselves. This is a procedure which is popular for its age-defying properties and the vast majority of people who turn to it will use it for this reason. The point we’re trying to make is that it can be a miracle form of treatment for some other conditions as well – again fuelling the “rollercoaster” reputation that we described in the opening section to this article.
